Today is a chance for you to learn how to make Easy Homemade Buttermilk (2-ingredient Milk Kefir recipe). Literally you will spend a few minutes to get this recipe done. Of course, you would need some cooperation from Mother Nature and be a little bit patient with the process as it takes a couple of days (36-48 hours mostly depending on the temperature at home). Probably this a as close to the bare minimum of ingredients as it could be just 2 of them: pasteurized homogenized milk and sour cream.

Firstly, select homogenized Pasteurized MIlk with Milk Fat of 3.25% for better results. Don’t cheat. If you use lower Milk Fat Percentage, you will get watery a substance rather than a healthy drink.

Secondly, sour cream should be no less that 14% Milk fat but no more than 20%. We used 14% M.F. and it works really well.

  • Pasteurized Milk 1 Gallon (4L)
  • Sour Cream ½ cup

  1. Pour out of the milk container, approximately 2/3 cup.
  2. Add 1/2 cup sour cream.
  3. Close the cap and turn milk container upside down a couple of times but don’t shake.
  4. Open the cap and leave it at the room temperature for a day.
  5. After 24 hours – close the cap and turn it upside down a couple of times but don’t shake.
  6. Open the milk container and leave it for another day.
  7. Done. You made healthy and delicious drink. Enjoy it!
